Moss Edge Farm, Cockerham, has been in the Holmes Family for five generations and son Steven is hoping he will be the sixth.
However, to make sure the farm continues to be sustainable in the years to come, Steven spotted an opportunity in the growing craft beer market and he decided to move in this direction. So, with the support from his parents, the Rural Development Programe and the NatWest, Farm Yard Ales was created. Now, the farm is home to a 2,000 litre brew plant and a fully licenced tap room. They currently produce a range of 8 core beers, from a traditional golden ale to a jacked up IPA (and everything in between).
